I suppose for me the question is these days: Why don't I wear it.
To be honest. Growing up in Germany and anyone who ever visits Germany, will notice that German women don't wear a lot of makeup at all. So while I did have those unfortunate incidents as a child where I destroyed my mom's Chanel lipstick due to unfortunate closing incident and while I was completely mesmerized by this powder she had that was made up of different balls in different colours....see below:
It wasn't until I turned 30, post divorce, that I started using makeup! I know! Seems a bit odd now!
Initially it was all Bare Essentials Mineral Powder, until I turned the mid-30s and realized this face of mine needed more coverage. I found a foundation I like and I haven't turned back since.
On weekends, I go makeup less of course and now that I work in a highly professional enviornment, I have no room for error and need to be tip top every day, so, make-up is essential, but that's not all.
My skin is changing a bit, which has something to do with getting a bit older and I now have some redness around my nose and in other areas that I try to treat with massive doses of moisturizer. This seems to work really well, but it is not gone and I don't really expect it to go away completely. So wearing makeup to me helps with those imperfections. I feel ok not wearing makeup on weekends, I don't feel less pretty or more ugly. I like giving my skin a break from it, but I can definitely say that during the week makeup does add to my feeling of confidence. I like the polished look I can get - at least for the first 6 hours of my day - I like that the changes in my skin are covered to an extend and I am happy I found some products that work for me.
So. Why do you wear makeup?
